Awkward Pose Part One

We teachers often hear that the classic 26 hot yoga postures neglect the upper body. Well, not if you do Awkward pose correctly. Elbows locked! Tricep muscles contracted!

Hands to Feet Pose

This forward bend completes the opening sequence of our twenty six postures effectively warming up and moving your spine in four directions. When combined with the opening breathing exercise the two sets use up approximately eighteen minutes of the ninety minute class

Back Bending

In the class room segment of the video notice the instruction to "lift your chest up" during the back bend. The purpose of a subtle lifting of your chest will open the ribs allowing the thoracic spine, the upper part of the spine where your ribs are attached, to bend backward a little as well bringing symmetry to the back bend.
